Spotlight On: STIX

The newest Mixtape “Better Late Than Never” by Watts City artist Stix has the industry talkin’. This sexy talented California boy is making quite a name for himself, and if you haven’t heard of him yet, you will soon.

STIX is by no means your typical HipHop artist, without a record label he has managed to produce, record, perform and promote numerous songs and demos, overcoming adversity and gaining celebrity status in his own right, with a worldwide audience and following for his music.

The mixtape is a refreshing change, forgoing the usual theme of cops, robbers, strippers and drug kingpins and engaging listeners to speak on the meanings of his metaphorical trademark sound. What you’re left with is a sanguine, feelgood treat for the ears and soul. I def want to remix one of these tracks I just have to decide which one.



“My mix tape cover has deep symbolism behind the artwork. By no means am I trying to say that I am Jesus the prophet. The artwork means that this is my second coming to the music scene. The thorn crown piercing my head with blood running down, is symbolic for the pain I have suffered with the business side of the music industry. The constant betrayal and disloyal activity. The glasses on my face represent knowledge and wisdom. The do’s and don’ts I have accumulated going through my trials and tribulation. The title “Better Late Than Never” I relate it to my entry in the music game on a mainstream level. At least I got to enter the game. I might have entered later than I wanted to, but at least I’m here”
I applaud anyone who is all about doing things their own way and taking it to the next level. Plus, he looks damn cute in those glasses ;P

Spotlight On: dj Miss Dust

hmm I seem to have a thing for blondes lately. But my girl dj Miss Dust is not your typical blonde or typical girl for that matter! I haven’t known her for very long but this gorgeous, outgoing, vivacious chika is one of those ppl you can’t help but luv right away. ‘Dusty’ is a killer dj and has been owning the decks about 10 years now, rocking shows and dusting crowds all over the US, Canada and Mexico, while playing alongside some of the biggest names in the industry.

As my former labelmate, I’ve been lucky enough to play shows alongside miss Sky and I absolutely adore the girl, so naturally I had to make a post about her.

From Wikipedia:
Tamara Sky (born February 20, 1985) is a professional disc jockey and model. Sky has been Miss Puerto Rico Bikini and is of Puerto Rican origin. She was the cover celebrity and centerfold for the April 2006 issue of the Mexican edition of Playboy. Then she was named Miss August 2007 for the United States edition of the magazine. She was the main DJ for Donald Trump’s birthday party at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City in June 2007 hosted by Carmen Electra. She has DJ’d the Pamela Anderson hosted Mac Cosmetics Fashion Week launch party in New York and the after party for the J-lo and Marc Anthony concert. Sky has also headlined events with celebrities such as Scott Storch, Fat joe, Benji Madden, Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Jenny Mcarthy, Danity Kane, Janet Jackson, Keri Hilson and many others. She’s Been featured in E!’s reality hit T.V show The Girls Next Door, Miami based magazine Ocean Drive and front page feature in New York’s [Missbehave][1] magazine. Sky is also the newest face of Luxirie by LRG.
