Christmas Gift Ideas
November 24th, 2009

It’s almost December, Just 1 week to go! I can’t wait to put I’m my tree but I promised myself I’d wait til the 1st week of December. Just because all the stores cram xmas down your throat the day after Halloween doesn’t mean I have to too ^_^ I am proud to admit I’ve actually started Christmas shopping! Well if you can call one gift ‘shopping’ but to me that’s a damn good start.

If you leave enough time (for shipping), you can do lots of your gift buying online. We all have those oddballs or difficult-to-buy-for people on our list, and I found some really great ideas from Thinkgeek.com and other online stores, that would titillate even the most finicky and make sure your gift doesn’t end up in the back of the closet.

The first one is my favorite: Take it back to the Oldskool with a modern take on the classic boardgame for hours of zombie gaming fun!

Who loves sushi? I do!!! even tho I can’t eat it, so I have teriyaki rolls instead which are close enough. These Sushi plushies with their little happy faces are just too cute, sure to be adored by the sushi obsessed in your life!

I’ve seen those T-qualizers that light up in time to music, and even convinced an ex to wear a hidiously tacky Halloween t-shirt with flashing LED’s sprinkled all over it but this is something else! The Electronic Rock Guitar Shirt is a ‘fully playable guitar built into a t-shirt’ complete with it’s own mini amp and adjustable volume. As the website states: “the Electronic Guitar Shirt is incredibly easy to play because each button on the neck is a major chord. She went on to mention how you can play dozens of classic rock songs with very little skill” Now that is Bad Ass.

This isn’t from thinkgeek.com, but if your girl is a big fan of Twilight, you can score some MAJOR points by getting her some of this pretty make-up! Same goes if you want to impress that cute “Twihard” crush you have on your secret santa list ;p Make-up is available here:

and you can get either the Volturi or Luna editions. The Volturi line is also available at London drugs here in Canada.

I f***’ing love this clock. We all know someone who is always late for everything, and this clock was made just for them. Everytime I look at it I smile, and I think it would make a great conversation piece. Aamazon.com wants to sell it to you for $100 bucks, but its just corkboard and paint so with a little effort you could easily make it yourself out of an old clock for a fraction of the price ;P

Hope this gives you some ideas, happy shopping! xx

Movie Reviews
October 5th, 2009

I’ve seen so many movies lately,  and maybe I’m a geek but whenever I leave the theater I feel compelled to discuss (which sometimes becomes a heated debate) the movie with whoever accompanied me. Blame it on too many years watching Siskel & Ebert.. I stopped watching when they added that other guy tho.  It’s just not the same :/

First up:

Jennifers Body – We all know Megan Fox is brutally hot and that’s a big selling point, but I had reservations about paying to see this movie. Based on the previews it honestly (imo) looked like another typical b-grade teen horror flick. I was content to wait til it came to dvd. Then fate intervened in the form of a friend who said they’d pay if I went with them. So we went and go figure, I loved it. The plotline was funny & twisted, Amanda Seyfried was adorable playing Megans bff  ‘Needy’ and there was of course a good dose of Miss Fox looking hot and doing sexy stuff. Y’know, between the whole eating boys and projectile blood/gore vomiting thing. The overall experience was oddly satisfying and I guess you can’t judge a movie by it’s previews.

Next:

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs – This was the first animated movie I’ve seen in 3D but now I can’t imagine watching it any other way. I vaguely remember the book from my early childhood days but the movie just blew my mind. The first 1/2  I felt so hungry watching all the yummy food fall out of the sky, and the 2nd half erm … not so much. I wont say why I don’t want to ruin it if you haven’t seen it ^_^ Really cute story for any age.

Lastly:

Boys and Girls Guide to Getting Down – this isn’t even a NEW movie, but it’s one of my newer faves and I tell everyone to watch it. Basically it’s a ‘mockumentary’ which follows the stories of various party kids in LA and is full to the tits with helpful ideas and hints for the ultimate party experience. They cover everything from how to pick up that high maintenance betch at the club, to how to amuse yourself at that sketchy afterparty.. that is, after you’ve watched this because it really makes the perfect after party movie.
